Welcome
GOPIO Cairns is a secular, non-political, non-partisan, non-sectarian, and not-for-profit chapter of the Global Organization of People of Indian Origin (GOPIO), dedicated to promoting the well-being of People of Indian Origin (PIOs) and Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) in Cairns and the surrounding regions. Our mission is to foster interaction, communication, and collaboration within the Indian diaspora while strengthening our cultural and community ties with India. Through vibrant cultural events, community engagement, professional networking, and educational initiatives, GOPIO Cairns serves as a unifying platform that celebrates our shared heritage and supports the growth and success of our local Indian community. By building bridges across generations and cultures, we aim to empower individuals and families to thrive, contribute meaningfully to society, and create a strong, connected future for the Indian diaspora in Far North Queensland.

The Cairns Indian Festival, an annual celebration commemorating India's Independence Day, has seen successful iterations in major cities worldwide. Organized by the Global Organization of People of Indian Origin (GOPIO) Cairns Incorporated, its primary aim is to foster unity between the Indian Diaspora and the broader Australian community. The event serves a dual purpose: promoting the well-being of individuals of Indian origin while facilitating collaboration and communication among diverse Indian communities in the region.
